It is scary how fast AI is moving. You can now use AI to generate TV shows using natural language prompts, call local businesses to ask run-of-the-mill questions, and turn objects from photos into video animations.
Another hot topic right now is Agentic Browsers, and after using a couple of these for a few weeks, I want to share my feedback.
What is an Agentic Browser?
A web browser with agentic AI capabilities, designed to make your browsing experience easier and more automated. Think of it like having an assistant that helps reduce the number of clicks you need to make.
The ones I tried are about the only market entrants right now (that could change by the time you read this):
- Dia by The Browser Company
- Comet by Perplexity
Why I'm Bullish
No bullshit, my browsing experience is not only better, but my productivity has grown considerably, and I think yours could too. Here's why:
- Native AI Assistance - Each of the browsers have a native AI assistant to help you understand the page you're on. Before these browsers, I was copy-pasting links into LLMs, then going back and forth. Now, I can stay on one page to consume content and understand it with AI assistance.
- Delegation - In a previous post, I wrote about my experience testing ChatGPT Agent. It was better than Operator, but still slow. Specifically using Comet, the Assistant will execute tasks for you in the browser, and although it's not Usain Bolt, it's faster than Agent. The demo I show is sped up to spare you watching the model "think", FYI. I wish it was that fast in actuality!
- Task Automation - Using the Skills/Command features, you can automate specific prompts or tasks that you perform regularly. In the example below, I used another feature of Dia called "Tab Selection", where you can @ mention specific tabs to narrow the context. Here's a nice example for someone in sales.
A 'Wow' Moment
Although I continue to be impressed by AI advancements, I haven't had this big of a 'wow' moment with AI since the first time I used ChatGPT. After using Comet and Dia for a few weeks, I'm confident that Agentic Browsers will change the way we browse the web and get things done. Really excited to see how this space evolves.
